  • ROLE OF THE ASSISTANT REFEREE/TOUCH JUDGE
    • Understanding the primary role of the assistant referee and or touch judge, including positioning.
    • Should you wish to be involved as a touch judge kindly contact your local referee society to attend their relevant courses to be certified as such. 

  • BALL RETRIEVERS
    • The need for a “Ball Retriever” service is to ensure that the official match balls are immediately available for the match to restart or for lineouts to commence without any delays, thus preventing any time wasting that could affect the match's outcome.
    • Important: Any minor fulfilling the role of a ball retriever, their respective parent or legal guardian needs to complete the INDEMNITY AND CONSENT FORM (Letter of Permission) for a Minor to participate in any rugby match and or tournaments hosted by the South African Rugby Union (SARU).

  • MANAGEMENT OF REPLACEMENTS
    • To ensure consistency among all side-line personnel in the management and administration of replacements, including the Technical Zone, for fifteens in South Africa.
