Disciplinary hearing for Giteau

Matt Giteau could be in big trouble for his remarks about referee Steve Walsh after the Brumbies' Super 14 defeat to the Waratahs in Sydney last weekend.

SANZAR on Wednesday issued notice to the Brumbies and Wallabies inside back (pictured, right) under the SANZAR Code of Conduct following comments he made about Walsh.

SANZAR judicial officer Terry Willis will conduct the hearing which will be held in Australia via teleconference on Wednesday.

After going down 12-19 to the Waratahs, the Brumbies called for Walsh's appointment to referee their next game - against the Reds this coming Saturday - to be rescinded, which was subsequently done by SANZAR, but Giteau's post-match comments could still be regarded as unacceptable.

He was forthright when asked whether he was hoping Walsh would be relegated.

"I think everyone is," Giteau commented. "Mate, I don't know if we will turn up - what's the point?"

Giteau also gave his opinion about the dubious 'double-movement' ruling against teammate Adam Ashley-Cooper in the first half, when Walsh disallowed what the Brumbies thought was a try.

"Like anyone that knows rugby, that was a try," he said.
