France punishes ref abuse

The disciplinary committee of the Ligue Nationale de Rugby (LNR), the body which runs professional rugby in France, has taken action against a player found guilty of contesting a referee's decisions.

Nicolas Lafitte, the Bayonne lock, has been suspended for 10 days for querying refereeing decisions when Bayonne played Racing Métro in Round 16 of the Top 14, a match refereed by Romain Poite, a top referee.

Lafitte is allowed to play again on 10 January.
