Clip 1 - 19 August

"No numbers."

Western Province have just been penalised at a scrum and the Blue Bulls kick the ball out to have a line-out.

If you listen carefully, you will hear the referee call: "No numbers. No numbers."

This is good management on his part. The Blue Bulls players walk slowly to the line-out. That men as that Western Province do not know how many players they are putting into the line-out and after all they determine the maximum number of players in the line-out.

By calling No Numbers the referee indicates that there is no need for Western Province to try to conform to a number in the line-out that may well be determined at the last minute.
