Clip 2 - 21 July

One-sided

Cory Jane of New Zealand tackles Bryan Habana and gets to his feet to play the ball. Schalk Burger of South Africa clatters into Jane and knocks him to ground.

The referee penalises Burger for coming in the side.

The commentator accuses the referee - one of the top 11 in the world - of seeing only one side, saying that Jane had not released Habana. Saying that the referee is seeing only one side is tantamount to accusing him of cheating.

Danie Rossouw returns from the sin bin and the referee tells him to be careful as he has had a yellow card, which is standard practice amongst referees but the commentator speaks of "great recognition of the fact that he's on microphone". If that is meant to suggest that the referee is grabbing the limelight it is unfair. It is normal practice and gently done. In fact the referee's communication is excellent.
