Clip 11 - 2 February

"And that's not a nice one."

As the ball comes back to the Stormers and Dewaldt Duvenhage is passing it to his left Tendai Mtawarira lunges forward and knocks the ball a long way forward.

The referee calls: Advantage

Gio Aplon goes back to fetch the ball and darts ahead. His darting come to an abrupt halt when Jean Deysel of the Sharks lays him low with a high tackle.

The referee calls John Smit, the captain of the Sharks, talks to Deysel and send him to the sin bin.

What about the first infringement?

The principle of first infringement comes into play when different sides infringe. Here the same side infringed twice and so the referee was correct in penalising the dangerous tackle rather than going to the innocuous knock-on.
